Truck dribing bans
Truck driving
bans (permissible total weight above 7.5 tons) as well as
trailers behind trucks on Sundays and during the holiday season
The above-mentioned vehicles are banned from participating in traffic
on Sundays and holidays according to para 30 section 3 of the
Traffic Code (StVO) during 00:00 to 24:00 hours.
During July 1 through August 31 of every year, the traffic
ban is extended to Saturdays, during 07:00 to 20:00
hours, to certain sections of motorways and federal roads
through the so-called Holiday Travel Decree.

The bans do not apply (among others) for
1. combined goods transportation rail-road from sender to next
loading station or from next
unloading station to consignee,
1a. combined goods transportation harbor-road between loading and unloading
station and to next harbor within a radius of max. 150 kilometers (delivery,
removal),
2a. Transport of fresh milk and dairy products,
2b. Transport of fresh meat and fresh meat products,
2c. Transport of fresh and living fish and fresh fish products,
2d. Transport of perishable fruits and vegetables
3. Empty runs in connection with nos. 2a. - 2d.
Prescribed freight and accompanying documents must be carried along in these
cases to be presented at the request of authorized persons for inspection.
Furthermore, the road traffic authority may approve exceptions in urgent cases
where transport with other means of transportation is not possible.
